Archetypes – The Good Mother



An archetype is a person, animal, or thing with recurrent, specific characteristics that remain consistent over time. An archetype can be found in several places, such as literature, film and television, theater, or music.

The Good Mother Archetype 

The Good Mother Archetype is derived from Mother Earth.  She is generally associated with fertility, producing life.  She is known to be a nurturer and caretaker.  The Good Mother is loving and instills particular values and morals in those she births.  Additionally, the Good Mother is not always a female character.  Sometimes a male represents this archetype.
